Moving Day





Be available for the moving crew for the entire loading process.

Advise movers at the start of the move of any problems you had moving in - chance are that they will have the same problems moving out. 

Leave all house keys, the garage door opening, and other items that should remain with the new owners.

Shut off the furnace.

Shut off water (and gas?) supply.

Arrange for phone service to remain active during moving day and then be discontinued.

Do a final check through the house for last-minute items.

Make sure all windows are closed and locked.

Turn off all lights.

Lock all doors.

Delivery Day




Plan to be available during the entire delivery to check off the inventory and to show the moving crew where to place your items.


Arrange to have a helper if possible so that one person can check off the inventory as it is unloaded and the other can assist movers to place the belongings in the appropriate places.
